After Argentina and Bayern Munich, it could be the turn of Lionel Messi to make his second trip to India within a few months, this time in FC Barcelona colours, if the plans of the Indian promoters of the trip go according to script.

A final decision on Barca's trip is likely to be out in the next week or so with the negotiations between an Indian sports management firm and Spanish giants in the final stages about a tour to India in May-June. The matches are being planned to be held after the Champions Leauge final in Munich on May 19.

The organizers are also keen to avoid a clash with the money spinning IPL, which has scheduled its final on May 27 in Chennai. According to one of the key negotiators, Lucas Lugo, CEO of We are Futbol, a consulting group based in Buenos Aires, the officials at Barcelona are very much interested to make the trip to India this summer.

"So far they had several offers but rejected many of them. But they are very keen to tour India this summer. We started negotiations six months back and we expect to get a final word with a week's time. Since it is a such a big club they have to get approvals from several Boards. The chances are very good," Lugo told TOI from Buenos Aires.

It was Lugo's firm that played a key role in getting the Argentina national team to Kolkata last September. Asked whether Barca is now looking at India after entering China through a deal with Tencent, China's leading internet service provider , Lugo said Barcelona is keen to tap the huge potential in India.

"The Indian market is really big and Barca looks at its immense potential. We know that cricket is big in India but once you get the footballjavascript:; culture in there will be a huge interest," Lugo added.

Besides Barca, the organizers are also looking to rope in two more big clubs to play exhibition matches in three Indian cities. "We have got 100 per cent interest from FC Barcelona in touring India during this summer.

"The other clubs who have been approved and showed a positive are Paris Saint-Germain FC Rangers ( Scotland) and Juventus," one of the promoters of the Kshatriya Sports Management (KSM) said.

"The tour of Barcelona is being planned with Mumbai, Bangalore and Kochi as the likely venues. We are hoping to conduct the matches at the DY Patil stadium in Mumbai, Sree Kanteerava stadium in Bangalore and the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium in Kochi."
